Social Memories– One of the best Apps of Facebook

Facebook applications are most of the times stupid and full of clowns dancing around and stupid ads. These applications most of the times land you into some junk advertisement with a little treasure hunt for you to find the right link that takes you to the right app.

But here’s one application that I found really intriguing and brought a smile on my face.

Social Memories.

It is not everyday that you get an application which is so neat and clean like this one. Social Memories neatly analyzes your facebook account entirely: your facebook statuses, photo albums, comments, likes, events you checked in, photos you were tagged in, friends you interact with and almost everything you’ve done after 1st June 2009 and elegantly creates a picture book containing beautiful infographics of your facebook life. And they call it Social Memories.

Once everything is calculated, you get to see the book in flash version on the application itself though not in a high resolution. You can get the hard copy of it for a price of $32 including the mailing charges.

If you’ve been active on facebook for the past few months, then this Social Memories application is sure to bring a smile on your face.

How to stop facebook spam?

Well, i'm being troubled on facebook for a very long time now and finally decided to enlighten people with some knowledge on how to differentiate between spam and not spam.

What is spam now? They are those stupid and silly stuff that people post on your wall or someone just pings you. Like there was this line - "look what this gal did to get busted by her dad" or there was this "oh my god! look what this gal did on webcam" and the latest one recently is this "omg! untag yourself from this video".

The first thing is you cannot really stop it (only spam) from being posted by your friends on your wall. It is just not in your hand. But you can definitely block all your friends from posting on your wall (even the legitimate ones). But what else you can do is stop yourself from posting such stupid stuff on your friends' walls. There are some simple tricks which I ll explain here.

First one: Stop being very desperate. Youtube and facebook block porn on their sites. So there is no way you are going to get it. And even if it doesn't, just give a thought whether that particular friend would share such stuff with you? Go with your intuition, control your emotions and that would do.

Second one: Don't trust on URL shortened links such as bit.ly. These are not the actual URLs. These are web based services that actually redirect you to some other site. How do you find whether these links are genuine or not? Simple. These URL shorteners have strange domains like they don't end as normal websites such as .com or .net. They end like bit.ly or tiny.cc or is.gd or ow.ly. So next time you find a link as - bit.ly/xcvz or something else then just stay away from clicking them. When you click on them, the same message will just automatically be pinged to all other friends currently online on your chat list.

Third one: When you find a video saying you're tagged in that video, first thing you do is - Doubt. Just keep your pointer above that video and the browser will show what that link is redirecting you to. It is shown at the bottom near the status bar. If that link is redirecting you to some youtube website (http://www.youtube.com?watch******) something then it is genuine. Otherwise don't click it.

Hope that has helped. If i missed any points then please let me know.

How to create amazingly creative facebook profile page?

It's been a while since the launch of facebook's new profile release and has been found a little hacker-easy but some creative and innovative exploited the new looks to create some amazingly cool facebook profile pages like this.

FB Creative

These pages became so common but the trick was complicated. Users had to make proper measurements and do it. But not required anymore. Here's a simple Web App that can do this for you.

FB Photo Magic

Here are the steps you need to follow.
Step 1: Go to www.fbphotomagic.com.
Click on Start at the bottom of the page.

Step 2: Upload the picture you want to put on your profile.
Upload the Picture

Step 3: Adjust the window to fit the picture properly in your profile page. The first dropdown menu asks for the number of lines. It is the number of lines between your name and the tagged images section in your profile(these lines contain details like your birthdate, your location etc.). You can find the number of lines in your profile by simply going to your profile.
Resize the frame

Above image is the snapshot of step 3. Different shades are very intuitive. Adjust the frame to what you think fits right.

Step 4: Click on Save button on the top right side of the window. You will be presented with two options. You can either directly download them or just use upload it directly to the facebook. Select the option to directly upload to facebook.

When you click on "Upload to Facebook", you will be asked to grant permission to the facebook page.

Step 5: Once you're done with the above step, you will be presented this message.
Final Steps
This step is pretty simple. you have to go to your facebook account, look for the new album created by FB Photo Magic. Go to the album and open the last photo in the album. Make it your profile image. Here's the snapshot of where you can find the option.
This menu is found at the bottom right of the image.

Step 6: That's it you're done. It is now time to show off your profile in front of your friends.
